The importance of maintaining your flexi hoses
Flexi hoses over time can corrode due to the build up of minerals in your water like limescale and calcium. These can wear down your plumbing. The flexible hose under your sink’s seal can corrode because of the minerals in the water. They can burst or break every 10 years or so. If your house is getting older it may be something to pay attention to.
“The statistics tell the story. 34% of household insurance claims are water damage related and the number one cause is Burst Flexi Hoses. The average water damage claim is now over $30,000 Given that there are over 100,000 claims made each year for plumbing related floods, and that Flexi hoses account for more than 20% of them.”
It is important to check for signs of wear and tear and get a licensed plumber out to replace the hose. I even recommend fitting an isolation tap for peace of mind.
