Really unhappy with the communication. Contacted Doran Plumbing via fb messenger after a recommendation from someone. I sent through a message asking for a rough quote on how much it would cost to fix our yard drainage, stating that it was definitely blocked somewhere along the line. I also sent photos of it backed up etc with the details he would need to quote us. I was asked for my phone number so Gavin could call me. When he called me he told me that it was going to be $95 so he could come and see what the problem was and then we could go from there so it would vary depending on what he found, but he had all the equipment to get it done on the day, and if we didn’t proceed it would be another $95 for him to come out again. Now as this was the first plumber i had called in relation to this issue, i thought that the $95 was for him to check the drain with his cameras and then any extra costs after would be associated with the jetting/fixing any problems based off what he found. Since we didnt have an exact price estimate we saved up for awhile to have $500 aside for the total $95 for the camera and $400 for the rest. And if it was going to be anymore we’d need to save up again. So eventually when he came out, we were hoping to be able to fix it on the spot. Unfortunately when Gavin came out I discovered that the $95 he was charging was just a fee to come and look visually with his eyes without actually doing anything at all. Explaining to me all the problems that there could possibly be that are wrong. And for him to take a look with the camera alone it would be $475. I have used many plumbers and tradies in the past and asked for a quote and never ever had any of them charge me to come out just to look at what ive already told them before actually giving me the pricing figures. Feel like he was really dishonest in the fact he couldnt give me a rough quote straight up. I get that these expenses vary, but its your own business and you do this everyday. At least give people an honest rundown via messages that they can go back and read and decipher that it could be anywhere between $300-$700 or whatever alone for the camera based off there drain situation and then could be more from there based off what is found instead of charging $95 to come out and tell them what they already know is an issue and making it seem like you will actually do something for $95. Having him only explain this via a phone call made it confusing as he didnt explain it well at all and made it seem like he would be doing actual physical work to find the problem. I would’ve preferred a direct message stating what that price was exactly for which was basically nothing except a visual look.

Horrible service!! Absolutely do not recommend Doran Plumbing and Drainage. This business did a plumbing job for my elderly mother that would've cost around $400 - $500 and instead charged her $790 taking advantage of her age and lack of knowledge. Despicable and morally bankrupt!!

Service was great and price was fair and we felt honest for the work done. It was a pleasant experience to have Gavin do the work. We will certainly keep his name and number handy for any future needs.

I spoke to Gavin on the phone regarding a blocked drain in my backyard. Gavin came out the very same afternoon, a Saturday afternoon at that, around an hour after I got off the phone to him. I had just finished a coffee and was not expecting him to arrive so soon, even though Gavin gave me an approximate time on the phone of when he would be turning up. I have had too many experiences where people say they were going to turn up at a certain time only to be left waiting around. Gavin turned up and got straight in to the job and explained everything he was going to do in a very friendly and professional manner. It was after all a cold, wet Saturday afternoon and I assume he had better places to be. Gavin filmed the whole procedure, showing me how the drain looked before and after he unblocked it and I was amazed at the difference. The invoice for the job was within my expectations.
